About Ackermann-Froebel
Enrichment Program
The Ackermann-Froebel Enrichment Program (AFEP) is a project-based enrichment program for Children/Youth, Women, and Seniors. The program was born out of the recognition that ancient wisdom offers solutions and strategies for more meaningful engagement.
Rooted in five complementary traditions — the Ackerman, Froebelian, Socratic, Stoic, and Samurai frameworks — our programs blend classic wisdom with contemporary relevance. This integrated foundation shapes a distinctive, project‑based learning experience that equips participants with essential skills, tools, and perspectives to thrive amidst contemporary cultural, social, and technological challenges.

The AFEP Samurai children and youth program introduces a fresh, dynamic way of learning grounded in exploratory, Japanese-themed project-based experiences. Through this approach, participants develop intellectual strength, a multi‑pronged perspective, and resilience, gaining the confidence to think broadly and creatively. They engage with a wide spectrum of disciplines — from the sciences and scientists to fine art, social sciences, political systems, astronomy, economics, and global cultures. The result is a learning journey that expands curiosity, strengthens cognitive agility, and prepares young people to navigate an increasingly complex world.

The AFEP Ikigai Women’s Circle is a powerful, intimate sisterhood where women explore their personal Ikigawa — their mission, passion, and purpose — through hands‑on, Japanese‑themed creative projects. Each cohort becomes a community of strength, reflection, and growth, as participants engage in guided exploration of meaningful life concepts, cultivate deeper self‑understanding, and support one another in becoming stronger, wiser, and more grounded versions of themselves.

The AFEP Sufobu 70+ Program honours the truth that we stand on the shoulders of giants. Grounded in our core philosophy and in deep respect for the wisdom earned through having lived life and gained experiences, the program invites seniors to engage with meaningful, legacy‑building projects. Participants create three guided works designed for the guardians of the next generation — preserving family traditions, family stories, and lessons learned. At AFEP, we recognize, value, and harness the profound insight that comes from a life fully lived, empowering elders to shape a lasting impact for their families and communities.

The Michi Compass will measure progress and not success or failure.
The graduates from the program emerge ready and equipped to be exemplary change agents and honourable leaders.

The AFEP is value-based and is meant to augment Canadian public and private education. While the activities and journey of self-discovery can be therapeutic in nature, the program is not a clinical program.

Born from personal experiences of having benefited from elements of this program and extensive research, the curriculum map is strategic. The AFEP is a passion project from the heart of a mother who has successfully nurtured two amazing young ladies, who are themselves academically and professionally committed to the mental and physical health of our communities.
